Reusable Period Pants are changing the game for so many menstruators. Since launching our FLO Reusable Period Pants have sold out twice! That's because Period Pants are a super comfy and ultra-absorbent product to use when you're on. However, we know many menstruators still have questions about Period Pants, like "How the hell do they work?!”
In this blog post, we want to address some of our FAQs when it comes to our best-selling pants!
What are Period Pants?
Our Period Pants are reusable and eco-friendly. They are designed to replace traditional disposable sanitary products such as pads and tampons - or for super heavy flows, a double-up! Our uber-comfy period pants feature a built-in absorbent layer that can hold up to 4 regular tampons worth of blood and provide protection against leaks and odours.
That’s great, so how do they work?
Our Reusable Period Pants utilise a unique combination of fabric layers. The top layer is moisture-wicking and keeps you feeling dry, while the middle layer absorbs your flow. Simply pop them on like a normal pair of pants. Then once the pants are full of blood, rinse them under cold water and bung 'em in the washing machine - just as you would any other pair of pants!
Okay… so are they comfortable?
Yes!! Our period pants are designed with comfort in mind. They are made from soft, breathable, and stretchy fabric that provides a snug and comfortable fit. Our FLO babes find them to be more comfortable than traditional period products like pads or tampons. We also use Better Cotton which is better for our bodies and the planet. Better Cotton helps support farmers through fair pay initiatives and environmentally friendly cotton practices.
But do you even have them in my size? Do I need to size up or down?
Our new Period Pants come in a wide range of sizes. We now have sizes S (UK 8)- to XXXL (UK 26-28) which leaves plenty of choice for everyone! With our old pants, we suggested sizing up but NOT ANYMORE! Our pants are now completely true to size. No problem if you are still not sure what to go for, just get in touch and one of our wonderful FLO babes can help you out.
How do I wash Period Pants?
Caring for your period pants is super easy! After use, rinse them in cold water to remove excess blood. Then, machine wash them at a low temperature (around 30°C or 86°F) with your regular laundry. Avoid using bleach or fabric softeners. Hang them to dry or lay them flat, and they'll be ready for your next cycle.
Okay sounds good but how long will my Period Pants last?
The longevity of your period pants depends on how well you care for them and how often you use them. With proper care, our period pants can last (at maximum absorbency) for up to two years or around 50-75 washes. Over time, you may notice some decrease in absorbency, and you can choose to replace them if necessary.
Will Period Pants work for my heavy FLO?
Yes! It’s important to note that everyone is different and every period can be different! If you have a heavy FLO, you might want to double up with a pad or tampon on your heaviest day for extra protection. We like to use the benchmark of up to 4 regular tampons worth of blood to indicate when you might need to change them. Remember, super heavy periods are not normal and can be a sign of a gynaecological condition like Endometriosis or PCOS.
Sounds amazing but how about at night? Can I wear Period Pants in bed?
Of course! Our pants are such a game-changer at night! No more nights of waking up with a pad roll in your pants, or worrying about leaving in a tampon for too long. You can free flow as you rest your pretty little head.
Are you sure though? What about the length of the gusset?
Yas! We are sure, the gusset has a great size that leaves you feeling protected and supported. Our gusset measures about 30cm in length from front to back so you know, WE GOT YOU!
Are they sustainable though?
YES! Absolutely! Our Period Pants are a sustainable option that can significantly reduce the environmental impact of disposable products. By choosing reusable period pants, you'll help decrease the number of pads and tampons ending up in landfills which is absolutely amazing. Our organic tampons and pads of course biodegrade, however Period Pants reduce your carbon footprint by not having to use any other products. Plus, you get the long-term savings of never having to buy monthly period products again! HURRAH!
